As I am sure you are aware, our club is still closed and looks like it may well be that way until mid-February or March. We would need to go into tier one to re-open.
This is obviously very disappointing news for all associated with the Club, although it is clear that such action was inevitable given the rapid rise in COVID-19 infection rates locally and most especially the tragic consequences that can follow.
We will of course update you with any news as soon as further guidance is issued, with the next official update being mid-Feb.
Thankfully, due to the management committee over the last five years, and support of our members, we have had enough financial reserves that have enabled the Club to continue to meet our significant contractual liabilities over the months we have had to close.
These reserves are however, under some strain and much depleted. We need to continue to maintain reserves to provide for future months of reduced trading, any unexpected expenditure, and ultimately to use for improvements in the near future.
For the above reasons, we are asking Members to renew memberships for the coming year.
We do understand that many of you have not been able to use the Club last year as much as you would otherwise have done, however, we do need to continue to fund the Club to preserve for the longer-term benefit.
In the circumstances, the Committee has decided to extend the time for Membership renewals until the end of February 2021 to accommodate personal renewals in the hope that we can open sometime soon after this date.
However, as annual subscriptions are always a significant form of income for the Club and are needed now more than ever, we would still like you to pay in January/February
In the current circumstances, the discounted rate of £20, if paid before the end of February will apply for full memberships and for those members, we will put on your card £6 to spend in the club to make up the shortfall from last year that we have been closed. Anyone not renewing after the end of February 2021, the normal full rate of £30 will apply.
As senior members already receive a heavily discounted rate of £5 per year for those aged 65 years and over, if paid before the end of February, we are not planning on putting anything on your cards. But if membership is not renewed before the end of February 2021 the normal renewal fee of £15 will apply.
Subscriptions can be paid in the following ways:
Payment Reference: Membership no. (on your card) plus as much of your surname
as can be entered.
Payment by cheque can also be made - Please make payable to Belmont Conservative Club and post to The Secretary, Belmont Conservative Club, 31-33 Station Road, Belmont, Surrey, SM2 6BX
We will be looking forward to seeing our members again, the club has had a deep clean in all areas to be ready for you all.
We would also like to remind everyone that if they have any of the following symptoms, New Cough, High Temperature or loss of smell or taste that they should not come into the club, but self isolate and call the Covid test hotline on 111 to arrange a test.
We thank you for your co-operation at these trying times,
Looking forward to seeing you all again in the near future.
